Patrick Suskind's Perfume is a classic novel of death and sensuality in Paris 'In eighteenth-century France there lived a man who was one of the most gifted and abominable personages in an era that knew no lack of gifted and abominable personages. His name was Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, and if his name has been forgotten today, it is certainly not because Grenouille fell short of those more famous blackguards when it came to arrogance, misanthropy, immorality, or, more succinctly, wickedness, but because his gifts and his sole ambition were restricted to a domain that leaves no traces in history: to the fleeting realm of scent ...' 'An astonishing tour de force both in concept and execution' Guardian 'A fantastic tale of murder and twisted eroticism controlled by a disgusted loathing of humanity ...Clever, stylish, absorbing and well worth reading' Literary Review 'A meditation on the nature of death, desire and decay ...a remarkable debut' Peter Ackroyd, The New York Times Book Review 'Unlike anything else one has read. A phenomenon ...Everyone seems to want to get a whiff of this strange perfume, which will remain unique in contemporary literature' Figaro 'An ingenious and totally absorbing fantasy' Daily Telegraph 'Witty, stylish and ferociously absorbing' Observer Patrick Suskind was born near Munich, in 1949. My Mini Books Of Poetry, set the tone for emotional feelings...such as joy, inner peace, and reactions to life's interesting surprises. The Series 1, TRAVELING MAN (7 poems), are poems basically about a man's journey. And the unique moments that he encounters. THE RATTLE OF FEAR for example, tells a story about his shocking encounter with a snake. THE LADY IN BROWN shows how a man's crush on a certain lady, turns him into being a hero. And in the real world, things don't always turn out right. The poem JUST MY LUCK describes such a situation. And LONELY AND WONDERFUL RIVER takes our mind to a serene place and how nature can capture our hearts. The Series 2, DREAM IN A BOTTLE (8 poems), tap into the soul of a person's inner being and mind. The poem I'M FLYING HIGH is how I take my birthday as a means of rebirth. An opportunity to be grateful for another year. JUST GIVE ME A TASTE shows expression of how love can give you such a desire for wanting to love another human being. And to express yourself to that person deeply. The poem DREAM IN A BOTTLE and the title of this series, is one of my personal favorites. A short but sweet poem. I've always been a dreamer. And writing my poetry series...has been a dream of mind. And I hope that you'll enjoy reading my poems as much as I enjoyed writing them. Feel free to write me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Put "About Poetry/Series 1 & 2" in the subject heading.
